Browser Plug-In Privacy Notice

1. Introduction.

 

This Browser Plug-In Privacy Notice (“BPI Notice”) supplements both the Claritas Privacy Notice and Cyder Privacy Policy to describe how Claritas, in conjunction with our service provider, Cyder Inc., collects, uses, discloses, and retains personal information in connection with its browser plug-in and related services (“Browser Plug-In”). Please review this BPI Notice, Cyder Privacy Policy, and the Claritas Privacy Notice for a full description of our data practices. Please note that your use of the Browser Plug-In is subject to the Browser Plug-In Terms of Service.

 

2. What Personal Information Do We Collect in Connection with Browser Plug-In and How Do We Collect It?

 

To use the Browser Plug-In, you must set up an account with us. We will ask you to provide the following categories of personal information when you set up an account:

 

  • Contact identifiers: Name, email address, postal address, and phone number.

 

When you set up your account and thereafter interact with the Browser Plug-In, we automatically collect the following categories of personal information:

 

  • Identifiers: IP address, Cookie IDs, Mobile IDs, and similar device identifiers.

  • Internet or electronic network activity information: including information about your browsing history and interactions (such as the features you use, pages you visit, content you view, purchases you make or consider, time of day you browse, and referring and exiting pages) and information about your device (such as your device’s operating software and browser, internet service provider, and regional and language settings).

  • Non-precise geolocation data: location derived from an IP address that indicates a city or postal code level.

  • Commercial or transaction information: Records of products or services purchased, obtained, or considered.

  • Demographic and statistical information: Age, gender, and country.

  • Inferences drawn: Data attributes drawn or created from the information identified above reflect your preferences, characteristics, behavior, attitudes, and abilities.
     

This personal information is collected through the Browser Plug-In technology and similar technologies, such as cookies and web beacons. See the Claritas Privacy Notice for details regarding our use of tracking technologies.

 

As part of your use of the Browser Plug-In, we may send you surveys about your experience or otherwise communicate with you. In addition to the above categories of personal information, we will collect your survey responses and any other content you provide.

 

We use measures in the Browser Plug-In to prevent the collection of secure site access, such as login to financial sites, pornography, and content labeled “Not Safe For Work” (NSFW). Do not provide any sensitive information to us.

 

 

3. How Do We Use and Disclose the Personal Information We Collect?

 

Details regarding our use and disclosures of personal information are set out in the Claritas Privacy Notice.   

 

In addition, we use and disclose the personal information for the following purposes:

 

  • to facilitate Rewards based on your behavior. Please see our Browser Plug-In Terms of Service for details regarding the Rewards program.

  • to enhance our third-party databases.

  • to improve and develop reports, analyses, services, and products.

  • to deliver content and recommendations tailored to you.

  • to provide personalized ads relevant to your interests.

  • to provide marketers with an analysis of your consumer journey, such as what sites you visit prior to purchases you make.

  • for academic research, which may be conducted in partnership with educational institutions.

 

We use artificial intelligence to analyze your personal information in connection with these purposes as well as to train and improve our algorithms.

 

Our use and disclosure involve us disclosing your personal information to partners, data brokers, and other third parties. These third parties may use your personal information for their own purposes in accordance with their own privacy policies, and you direct us to disclose the personal information to them.

 

Sometimes we anonymize or deidentify information so it is no longer considered personal information under applicable law. Where we deidentify information, we commit to maintain and use the deidentified information in deidentified form and not attempt to reidentify it. We may use and disclose non-personal information for any purpose to the extent permitted by applicable law.

 

 

4. What Rights and Choices Do You Have Regarding Your Personal Information?

 

Details regarding your rights and choices, including those available to you if you reside in a specific jurisdiction (like California), are set out in the Claritas Privacy Notice.  

 

In addition, you have the following choices with respect to your personal information for the Browser Plug-In:

 

  • Uninstall the Browser Plug-In: To stop the collection of your personal information through the Browser Plug-In, uninstall the plug-in. Note this will not impact personal information we have already collected.

 

  • Manage your Browser Plug-In Settings: We offer settings through the Browser Plug-In whereby you can control the disclosure of your personal information to third parties. By default, disclosure of your personal information is set to “on” when you download the Browser-Plug In. We will disclose personal information in accordance with your selected settings. 

 

 

5. Notice of Financial Incentive.

 

Our rewards program provides you with the ability to earn rewards (“Rewards”) based on the personal information collected through the Browser Plug-In. Rewards are subject to the Browser Plug-In Terms of Service. Additional terms and exclusions may apply and are presented at the time the Reward is offered or saved.

 

You can opt into Rewards by registering an account for the Browser Plug-In. You can opt-out of the Rewards program by contacting customer support at dataaccount@claritas.com.

 

To form the basis for the Rewards offered, we have made the following good faith estimate of the value of your personal information. We estimate the value of user personal information to be $5 per user.

6. Retention and Protection of Personal Information.

 

Details regarding how we retain and protect your personal information are set out in the Claritas Privacy Notice.  

 

 

7. Changes to this BPI Notice.

 

Claritas reserves the right to revise, in whole or in part, any portion of this BPI Notice, without notice, at any time. Please review this BPI Notice periodically so that you keep up to date on our most current policies and practices. We will note the date of the latest version at the top of this BPI Notice.
